Raoul Maria de Pesters (*1937, Switzerland) is a sculptor and jewelry artist, exploring the worlds of sounds and movement.

His sensibility to kinetic art begins in Paris in the 1960s at the Gallery Denise René, where he assists artists from the Op Art and Kinetic Art movements, such as Horacio Garcia Rossi et Hugo Demarco. He will then develop his own “mobiles sonores” (sound sculptures), adding sound to movement. Made primarily of natural elements such as wood and metal, they are intricate compositions evolving in time and space, offering visual poems that interact with their environment.

In recent years, Raoul Maria de Pesters has transposed his practice from large-scale sculptures to artist jewelry. He trained with the goldsmiths and artists Giovanni Corvaja in Italy and the Atelier Laurent Jolliet in Geneva, to specialize in the use of gold. His unique pieces are playful researches on movement and the reflections of light.

His works have been part of solo and group exhibitions at the Salons des Grands et Jeunes d’Aujourd’hui in Paris (1969–87), XIVe Triennale of Milan (1968), Atelier du Spectateur/Biennale de Paris (1969), Kunsthalle Recklinghausen (“Kunst als Spiel”, 1969), Parcours Sonore of the Parc de la Villette in Paris (curated by Ricardo Basualdo, 1992), Ferme du Buisson, Marne-la-Vallée (1994), and at Kyklos Art Center in Mykonos (1998) among others. His works are part of several private collections in Europe.
